On Turning 40

I turned 40 this past June and, for the most part, it’s been a cool experience.  I’ve recently discovered that I have to get eyeglasses for the first time in my life but other than that it’s been okay being 40.

One thing I that I have noticed is that my love for the people around me has mushroomed lately.  I don’t know if this has something to do with turning 40, if it’s just a season I’m in, or if it’s because I’ve been praying so much during this 80/40 campaign but my heart is just filled with love for people.  It’s kind of disturbing actually and I hope that it ends soon.  ;)

Seriously though, I think one of the major benefits of walking with the Lord for any extended period of time is that He softens our hearts and fills us with genuine love for others.  I know that I’m at least half the jerk I was 23 years ago when I first gave my life to Him.  I’m hoping that I live for at least another 23 years so that He can finish the job.
