I just have to say that I’m absolutely loving the high school. It’s incredible! At first, we had a lot of issues we had to resolve. We had to learn how to do what we do in the new space and, as we expected, there were some challenges but everyone just went to work and now most of the major issues have been resolved. Truthfully, the place is really starting to feel like home in a major way and I am so digging that.
As far as teaching goes, I felt like my messages were a little flat the first couple of weeks. I’m not exactly sure why. I think it was just the newness of the building and the stresses of the move. Thankfully things started to change a few weeks ago. First, Angela hit a major home run the Sunday she taught. That also gave me a week off to regroup a bit too. Then, we went into this marriage series and things really started to click for me. Right now, when I teach, it feels like I’m connecting with the crowd in some fresh, new ways that I haven’t experienced before. Everybody has been so very responsive too. It’s just awesome to see it all unfold every Sunday. The truth is that God is moving in big ways in peoples lives and it’s a blast to go to church each weekend!
What’s surprised me the most is not the challenges we experienced but how quickly we’ve been able to adapt. In our old facility, it took us months and months and months to get the hang of some things but we’ve gotten all this together in just a little over a month. Again, it’s really starting to feel like home!
Another great benefit to being at the school is the influx of visitors we’ve seen. Each week we have so many first-time visitors at the school. (Far more than we were seeing at our old location.) The cool thing is that they seem to be coming back each week and the word of mouth buzz in the community is growing as a result.
The bottom line is that it took a lot of energy and hard work to make the move a reality but I am absolutely certain that it was God’s plan for us as a church and I’m also certain that He is blessing our willingness to “follow the cloud” and move with Him.
Fusioneers, thanks for everything you’ve done and are doing to make our work at the school such a success!
