His Will

This inspired post from Angela has really stuck with me since I read it.  The truth is that God has been asking me to lay my “rights” down a lot lately.  He’s been asking me to follow Him no matter what.  He’s been asking me if I’m willing to do what He asks even if it flies in the face of what I want.

As Shawn Lovejoy said in his great series of posts on not-so-common leadership practices (1, 2, 3), “leaders never do what’s best for them, but what’s best for the organization.”  The bottom line is that it’s not about what’s best (or even most desirable) for me.  It’s about doing what’s best for my God, His Church, and His local church that I’m called to shepherd.

As for me, I will do whatever He wants me to do.  I will go wherever He wants me to go.  I will yield everything I have for Him because He gave His all for me.

I have decided to follow Jesus.
No turning back.  No turning back.
Though none go with me, still I will follow.
No turning back.  No turning back.
