Backs and Walls

background_brick_wallIt’s never fun to have your back against the wall.  Then again, maybe it is…in a way.

Recently, I’ve found my back against the wall in a lot of ways.  It’s not my preferred state but I must admit that I do find it a little invigorating.  There’s just something about being “cornered” that makes you scrappy.   If nothing else, it certainly helps you to focus on what’s really important.

Homer (not Simpson but the other guy) said…

Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.

He’s right.  Sometimes, our best only emerges when we’ve been cornered and have to come out fighting.

Ren and I were just talking about this very thing the other night. Finding yourself in tight spots can, if you allow God to do His thing, bring out the best in you.
    Good post.

    Great minds think alike! ;)
Seriously though, you’re so right, Kiddo. But, like you said, we must allow/cooperate with God doing His thing. If not, the situation just becomes oppressive.
Tight spots are there to make us dig deep within ourselves AND reach out to God.
