Thoughts about life, church planting, and other things.
I’m trying to find a good online task management system to replace my PlanPlus dependency. I’ve been looking at the following…
Remember the Milk: Well developed but the number of tasks I have would make this impossible to work with.
HiTask: What beautiful design. I love the look and feel. It’s a little too basic though.
Nozbe: I very, very powerful GTD base task system. I like the mobile version and the iGoogle add-in. It’s sort of ugly and hard to read though.
Backpack/Basecamp: Tried them both. They are just too much for what I want. I’m not looking to set up a team on the system, just me.
PlanPlus Online: Trying it now. It’s close to the desktop version that I like but it’s so slow and it seems like yesterday’s coding. (They need some AJAX or ruby on rails mojo or something.)
5PM: I’m very impressed with this system but again the task subsystem is a little lacking.
Central Desktop: Slow. Clunky. Not digging the tasks section.
I’m so close I can taste it on some of these but we’re still not there. Does anybody know of any other good ones to try?

I just went through this same thing. I ended up using a Google Spreadsheet… flexible and fast. It works well.

Tony,
I’m sorry you found Central Desktop Slow and Clunky. We have thousands of happy paying customers so I have to say that you are in the minority. If there is anything we can do to troubleshoot the performance issues let us know.
That being said, our product is geared towards Teams and Workgroups - not really personal productivity and personal task management.
Of what I’ve seen out there, I think http://todoist.com/ have created a good Task Centric Solution. Check them out.
[I'm not affiliated with them in anyway.]

So… does anyone know of a good online buzz monitoring software?

Ha - just added a comment on your switching to Mac post and now I’m reading this… I think I can make Remember the Milk work using different lists (tabs) and tags - you can customize them.

Consider checking out Intervals, web-based task management that also includes time tracking, so you can see how long things are taking. It’s more advanced than some of the simpler apps out there. And milestones (another way of doing subtasks) is in development.
