The Announcement
April 27, 2009
Yesterday, we announced that there is a building that we feel that the Lord is telling us to go for. The building would be perfect for us. We are trying to work out a lease option deal but we’re still in negotiations for the space so I can’t really talk very much about the specifics right now. I can tell you that we see this building as a real opportunity from the Lord and as a next step in our journey as a church.
Beyond that, we committed together as a church to pray daily about this opportunity and to seek the Lord about the role He would have each of us play financially to make this miracle happen.
I think it’s safe to say that our church is really jacked up about all this! Actually, that’s an understatement. We’re VERY jacked up about all this! The potential of what we could do in that building is HUGE! But, more importantly, there is just a sense that God is moving in our church which is where most of the excitement comes from. God is inspiring and mobilizing us to get ready to take everything to a new level. Our mission to connect the disconnected is being infused with renewed focus, passion and energy.
For my fellow pastors out there, yes, I announced that we are going for a building that I don’t have a contract on. Yes, we are going to be receiving an offering on May 17 (Commitment Sunday) for a building for which we are still negotiating. And, yes, I know that might sound crazy to some, but I feel very strongly that the Lord wants us to go for this and that we, as a church, need to be praying together and preparing so I stepped out in faith and pulled the trigger to go for it. I know the sequence may seem strange but it’s very Fusion if you know anything about our church. :)
Whether you’re a part of Fusion or not, I’d like to ask you to continue to pray for this “advance.” Pray that the Lord helps us to finalize our lease option deal with the owners. Pray that He continues to make a way for us to get into the building. (He’s already done so much!) Pray that the offering the we are going to receive on Commitment Sunday will be exactly what the Lord wants it to be and that we’ll have everything we need to advance!

This may sound odd but I feel like God has supernaturally taken 10 years off me since we started pursuing the opportunity that we’re going to be talking about this weekend. There’s just something about hearing from God and being directed by Him that causes vitality.
