Thursday Stuff™, from the makers of Sunday Stuff™! He’s a quick brain dump on this Thursday morning.
- We had our first-ever Wednesday One last night and I think it went really well.
- I simply couldn’t believe all the energy that was in the room.
- Since it was our first one, I had no idea how many folks we’d have but the turnout was great.
- Seth, just coming off of strep throat, really did a great job leading worship.
- We decided to create a new worship team just for Wednesday One and they did a great job too.
- I can tell you that the enemy was trying to derail everything at every turn yesterday. Among other things, our main presentation computer crashed right when the service was due to start. Still, God won in the end. He always does.
- I messed up the service order in my brain and ended up putting communion before the child dedication. It looked like my wonderful wife came up at the wrong time but really I had things out of order in my head. I felt bad about that.
- Since it was our first one, there’s lots to learn. I think we tried to cram too much into the service. I really wanted to end the service by 8:15PM but we ended at 8:30PM.
- Some folks had to bolt after the service to get their kids home. A ton of folks hung around outside talking though.
- I promise you guys that we’re going to get that service time down so that you can get the smaller kids home and into bed.
- I had been concerned for a long time about how much time I’d have to teach. I think it all worked out though.
- My message was heart-felt. I’m never sure how what I teach comes across but I shared what was on my heart.
- Sometimes I think I’m too transparent as a pastor and sometimes I think I’m not transparent enough. It’s hard to find that line.
- I like to share my life and stories from my life though. I think it makes things more real.
- Last night, I shared a lot about what’s been going on inside of me spiritually. It was really about where I’m at these days and what God is doing in my heart.
- I think I’ll blog more about this later but God has me at a place where I’m absolutely desperate for Him. He’s ruined me for anything else but Him.
- I also talked about spiritual opportunities and not telling God HOW to do things.
- The major point I was trying to make was that we must obey God for His blessings to flow in our lives and that we must do whatever He says big or small.
- I love the people of Fusion. I really do.
- I’m very thankful for everyone that served last night. I’m especially thankful for Shannon Smith and the rest of the folks that served in KidZone. You guys are real heroes and superstars in my book!
- It was great to have communion together as a church.
- It was great to see all the families standing up front dedicating themselves and their children to the Lord.
- It was great seeing the entire church standing and dedicating themselves to helping the parents raise their kids.
- It was great getting together and just being the church.
- That’s the purpose of Wednesday One after all and, with that in mind, I think the evening was a smashing success!
- I can’t wait for the next one in October!
