PressPausePlay

presspauseplay4-290x290

PressPausePlay is an amazing documentary that I watched recently.  Truthfully, I’ve been meaning to watch it for quite some time but I’ve just been too busy.  When I finally made the time to watch it I was blown away.

What’s it about?  Well, here’s a portion of the description from IMDB…

The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent of people in an unprecedented way, unleashing unlimited creative opportunities. But does democratized culture mean better art, film, music and literature or is true talent instead flooded and drowned in the vast digital ocean of mass culture? Is it cultural democracy or mediocrity?

It’s clear that we’re living at some sort of crossroads in our society.  We all sense that everything’s changing but it’s hard to fully express what’s going on.  It’s like living in the beginning of the industrial revolution.  I’m sure people sensed something fundamental was changing back then but I bet they had a hard time getting their heads completely around it.  PressPausePlay is exceptional in that it comes as close as anything I’ve ever seen to actually capturing a revolution as it starts.  It chronicles the digital shift in which we live, and it does it well.

I watch a lot of documentaries and I can tell you that this one is brilliant on all sorts of levels.  It not only has a lot to say (and show) but it says it very well.  While the film is talking about the arts and what’s happening to them, it is itself a work of art.

If you’re a creative of any type – musician, artist, composer, writer, photographer, communicator, designer, producer, teacher – I highly recommend this doc.  Honestly, I think just about anybody will find this interesting because it’s so well done but the creatives of the world will find it absolutely riveting.

Here’s the trailer.

Thankfully, the makers of this film decided to release it for free on their site.  (I guess they were listening to some of the experts in the film.)  Anyway, the good news is that it’s available for free via torrent.

Move In Us – CD Release Party

MoveInUs

To say that I’m excited about this Friday is a big understatement.  For years I’ve wanted Fusion to release a worship album.  I’ve dreamed about us putting phenomenal worship songs (recorded by our amazing band) into the hands of everyone that calls Fusion home.  The time just never seemed right though.  Then, earlier this year, I started to feel like God was giving us the green light to move forward on this great project.

With God’s prompting, the worship band and the production team started working on this amazing CD and this Friday everyone is going to get to see, hear and experience the fruit of this labor of love.  This great CD includes a bunch of our favorite worship songs at Fusion.  It also has some new tracks that I’m certain are soon to be favorites too.

The goal of this project has always been to give a gift of worship to our Fusion family.  With that in mind, we decided to give away free copies of the CD to everyone that attends the release party.  The CD will be available on iTunes and Amazon MP3 on October 11 but everyone that’s there Friday night will get it early and free.

The release party itself is going to be awesome.  More than just a party or a concert, we’re going to be having a phenomenal night of worship.

I hope you’ll join us Friday night at 7pm as we worship the Lord and celebrate all He has done for us.

Happy Birthday to My Amazing Wife

party1

Today is my wife’s birthday.  I won’t tell you how old she is today but it’s one of those milestone birthdays.  I can tell you that she hasn’t really aged a day since I met her and that her beauty, charm and grace have done nothing but intensify over the years I’ve known her.

To my beloved Amy,

When the Lord chose a wife for me, He truly blessed me beyond measure.  He gave me everything I thought I needed and then He also gave me everything I really needed too.  It seems that almost daily I discover new things about you that both amaze and delight me.

When I think of you the word that most often comes to mind is grace.  You’re graceful and beautiful in your mannerisms and movement.  You’re graceful and peaceful in spirit and demeanor.  You’re graceful and loving in how you deal with others, our kids, and me.  Your grace, beauty and charm enchanted me the first time I saw you and I’ve been enamored and mesmerized by you ever since.

You cook, clean, chauffeur, shop, account, budget, wash, fold, care, tend, plant, water, read, sew, teach, instruct, guide, model, consult, pray, laugh, and love…and play the bass too.  And, you do it all so well!  Is there no end to your talents and abilities?

Waking up beside you each day is an amazing gift that I never take for granted.  Thank you for sharing your life and who you are with me.  Thank you for being my bride and my best friend.

Truthfully, I often feel like a clumsy neanderthal in the presence of a graceful princess when we’re together but this Beast truly loves his Beauty and you have filled my heart with a transforming love.

All of that to say…Happy Birthday, my precious Amy.  I love you, my wonderful wife.

Destiny Bound Recap

destiny_header2

One of the highlights from this past week was speaking at Destiny Bound.  At first I was a little intimidated by the thought of being the only male speaker at an event for women but then the Lord reminded me of the obvious fact that I speak to women every week at church and told me not to worry.  I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I had the honor of teaching with two other ladies; Whitney Capps and Sheila Rhodes.  It was so very nice to be a part of a team of teachers. There’s a comraderie among teachers that’s just great to experience.

It was also very nice to only be a small part of the overall program.  Of course, Kelly Greer was amazing and had everything rocking and rolling as far as all the logistics went so all I had to do was show up, do my talk, and hang around.  It was really a lot of fun.

The best part for me was that I got to speak about why you should trust God and give your life to Him.  That’s my favorite topic to teach in the world.  Beyond that, I got to encourage some folks that might have been struggling.  That’s my second favorite thing in the world to talk about.

Anyway, I had a great time and I think the other ladies there had a good time too.

I want to publicly applaud Kelly Greer for following after the dream the Lord put on her heart to create this event.  It takes guts to follow a God-given dream and I’m very proud of Kelly for doing that.

I also want to thank all the volunteers that came together to make the event happen.  I know that a lot of hard work went into everything and I’m certain it paid off in lives being changed.
