I headed over to Canton yesterday for some lunch with a great group of folks. My dear friend, Gary Lamb, was hosting the meeting and it was such a blast.
It was great to see Greg Rohlinger again. I have a great deal of respect for Greg and the church he pastors. I always threaten Greg that I’m going to fly out to Arizona one day and visit his church! One of the things that I like about Greg is how laid back he is. He’s real and he’s the real deal. He’s got tons of wisdom to share and it was great to be able to pick his brain.
Also there was my good buddy, Charlie Pharis. Any opportunity to spend time with Charlie is a real treat to me. I just so dig Charlie. Unfortunately for him, he had to sit across from me as I ate the barbecue. (I was coming off of a fast and that food was especially delicious!)
I had a good talk with Steven Gibbs about mindmaps and how I use them in my sermon prep. (I think we bored the rest of the table though!) I also learned that Steven is blogging. I keep bumping into him all the time at these things and I’m a little concerned that he might think I’m stalking him. :)
I also got to meet Joe Case. (I just started reading Joe’s blog recently.) Both Joe and Greg had new Timbuk2 bags but they aren’t believers yet. I’m going to have to up my prayers for the two of them. ;)
Michael Lukaszewski was there too. That guy is one sharp dude. I always like hearing what’s going on at his church.
Anyway, I don’t guess I can list everyone that was there but we had a great time. Things like that are always a bit of a stretch for me because of my introverted tendencies but I’ve realized that these types of meetings inspire and sharpen me. I always learn so much and I leave with renewed motivation.
