I really like Bob Franquiz. He’s just one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met. I really dig his blog too.
Yesterday, he posted that he’s preached 16 weeks in a row without a break and that his brain was fried. That sort of woke me up. The truth is that our church is going to be 5 years old in September and I’ve preached every Sunday except for about 8 or so weekends. I’m not proud of that fact. I’m actually sort of embarrassed.
Now, I know the Perry Noble says that you should preach no more than 40 Sundays a year if you want to keep things fresh. If that’s true, I believe that I’m now owed 52 Sundays off. Woo hoo!
Seriously though, God’s been telling me in a lot of different ways that I’ve got to take more breaks if I want to survive, and thrive, in the ministry.
