I went to Shawn Lovejoy’s talk yesterday and I thought he hit it out of the park. Shawn did a great job of talking about how pastors need to get the vision from God and then protect that vision.
It’s so very easy to have vision drift in any organization but it’s especially a problem in churches. I’ve always felt that one of my main jobs as pastor is to make sure we are staying on target as a church and doing exactly what God has called us to do. Shawn reinforced that in a big way during his talk.
I just want to say that I really like Shawn and I so appreciate his heart. He’s ALWAYS willing to take the time to spend with church planters, like me, and that says a lot about him.
A couple of days ago, Shawn invited a small group of pastors to join him for dinner. It was an amazing little group and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I got to talk with David Putman, who I also think the world of, and, of course, Shawn. Beyond that, I got to spend some quality time with my good friends, Tadd Grandstaff and, the always amazing, Gary Lamb! AND, Bil Corneilus also showed up which was very cool. (I’ll post more about Bil later.) It was a great dinner and, again, I’m thankful Shawn invited me to tag along.
