I just learned via Ben Arment that Nancy Beach is blogging. That’s very cool. Nancy has been at the center of the Willow Creek journey since before the beginning and she’s truly one of the brave pioneers of many of the things we take for granted in a lot of our churches today. I think her blog will be a great, great resource and I’m excited about reading it.
Her post on vision is outstanding. As she says, it’s so very easy to get fuzzy about the vision of a church or a ministry team. The problem with that is that people can’t rally around a fuzzy vision. People need to know where the ship is headed before they can get excited about the destination.
They also need to hear about the destination in rich, fresh language. It’s also far too easy to just used tired phrases and cliches. Real vision-casting is about painting the most vivid picture you can of where you’re headed as a group and why. When God-ordained visions are cast in that way, people get motivated and lives get changed!
