Some Days

Some days, I honestly feel that I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.  I don’t know if any other pastors out there ever feel this way but I’ll be honest and say that’s what I dealt with yesterday.

I’m reminded, however, of something Perry Noble said at the Unleash conference.  He said that leadership is as simple as listening to God and then doing what He tells you to do.  I couldn’t agree more.  The truth is that no man is wise enough or smart enough to lead a church.  Leading a church is the most demanding leadership challenge anybody will ever face and, without God’s guidance and grace, it’s a bit of a fool’s errand.

Thankfully, God never asks us to do something without teaching us how to do it.

I praise the Lord because he advises me. Even at night, I feel his leading.  Psalm 16:7 (NCV)

I thank God that He’s been faithful to instruct me (and stretch me) as I’ve endeavored to do what He’s asked me to do.  He is faithful.
