We had our backyard seeded a couple of years ago and we were told to water the grass for a good, long time every day. Then later, after the lawn was established, we were told to skip watering from time to time. Why? So that the grass would be forced to grow deeper roots. It seems that grass won’t typically grow deep roots unless the water is withheld from time to time.
