Friday Night Brain Dump

Finished Heroes:  Amy and I finally finished watching the first season on Heroes and we really enjoyed the whole thing but, honestly, I don’t quite get the ending.  Can somebody tell me why Peter didn’t just fly himself out of there?  Or why his brother didn’t just take him way up in the sky and drop him?

Flash Gordon:  We’ve been watching the new Flash Gordon series on the SciFi channel.  It’s no Battlestar Galactica or Heroes but it’s pretty good.

New iPods:  I’ll admit that I’m really wanting one of the new touch screen iPods.  I really have no need for an iPhone but I could really dig one of these bad boys.

New Phone:  While I don’t want an iPhone, I do want a new Blackberry.  My friend, Stephen Lowe, finally saw the light and got a blackberry.  His post is dead on the money.

Shakes & Quakes:  Even though I have a problem with lactose, I LOVE milkshakes.  The two best milkshakes out there are (#1) the Sonic peanut butter milkshakes and (#2) Kystal’s new chocolate milkquakes!  Check them out.

Cool Stuff:  This looks really cool to me.  I’ve already started adding stuff to my Google Library.

Pavarotti:  Pavarotti passed away this week.  If you want to see some strange/cool duets, check out this video, or this one, OR this one.

  1. As for why Peter didn’t fly:
I don’t recall Peter flying as fast as Nathan, so perhaps he wouldn’t have been able to get far enough away.
Also, perhaps the flying would have required mental concentration that was already consumed with fighting the detonation.
Re: Nathan dropping Peter… perhaps by the time Nathan flew Peter to a safe distance, it was too late to do anything else. Also, had Nathan simply given Peter the boot, he could have returned to his self-seeking ways, but the way things ended, we felt better about Nathan as a person.
Nathan’s sacrifice unwittingly echoes the verse that talks about the greatest love being one that would lay down his life for another.

  3. Hey Tony! I just found your blog and I’ve really enjoyed it! I’m on disk 4 of Heroes and loving it, so I’m trying really hard not to read any blogs about it! Thanks for your blog…

  5. On the milkshake tip you gotta try Chik-Fil-A if you haven’t already. Also if you like Krystal’s new one try QuikTrip’s milkshakes, they are made the same way as Krystal’s but they also have strawberry and vanilla as well as chocolate.

  7. Ipod…I am so frustrated right now. I have been to athens and back to get the new ipod classic and everyone is sold out. My ipod broke this weekend and I am itching to my music back. My old one gave me 3 1/2 glorious years (RIP).

  9. Heroes-My thoughts exactly. Love the show, but was let down by the finale after such a build up.
Phone-I have a Treo 700wx and hate it. I tried to swith to a Blackberry, but was going to have to pay full retail since I wasn’t due for an upgrade. I guess I’ll see what I can find on ebay.
Ipod-I have a hate/love relationship when stuff like this comes out. I love the new stuff, but hate it that it breaks my wallet. I’m a “have to have it” kind of guy when it comes to my gadgets.

  11. I’ll get my iphone when AT&T; upgrades to 3G and Apple upgrades the iphone where the battery is not soldered anymore.
By that time I’ll be able to buy it for $199 and the capacity would be 30 gigs?… maybe?
