At My Funeral…

I hope there will be a lot of laughing and that people will understand that I’ve simply “graduated.”  I also want there to be a lot of music….mostly Earth, Wind and Fire!

There’s only one hymn I want sung, my favorite hymn.  It captured my heart shortly after I gave my life to Christ and I still sing it myself on occasion, especially during times of stress.  The hymn is called “There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood.”

I’ll be the first to admit that the title can be a little off putting at first.  It’s the lyrics, however, that pierce my soul every time I hear them.  I’m not quite sure what it is about this hymn that grabs me so much but it just seems to have to power to remind me of all the Christ has done for me as well as His power to save me and guide me.  Here are a few selected verses.

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day;
And there have I, though vile as he, washed all my sins away.
Washed all my sins away, washed all my sins away;
And there have I, though vile as he, washed all my sins away.

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood shall never lose its power
Till all the ransomed church of God be saved, to sin no more.
Be saved, to sin no more, be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed church of God be saved, to sin no more.

E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.
And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die.
