Wisdom (1 of 2)

Since I first gave my life to Christ at age 17 I’ve been asking God for wisdom.  James tells us that “He gives to all who ask without finding fault” and that hit me hard as a young believer.  At some point, I started asking Him for “wisdom beyond my years.”  I’m not sure what prompted me to start praying that specifically but I’m glad I made the switch because I can tell you that as pastor I feel I need wisdom more than just about anything other than faithfulness as I seek to serve Him by leading and feeding the flock.

A lot of times, people like to pray for greater vision for their pastors and leaders.  That’s very cool but, honestly, I think that most pastors have enough vision.  What we need is wisdom to accomplish the vision and, through that wisdom, a refinement of the vision God has already given us as we walk towards it’s fulfillment.  For me personally, I have more vision that I’ll ever need. If I can achieve 5% of what I can see the entire northern hemisphere would be changed!  :)

Are you asking God for wisdom?  Are you asking God for wisdom for the leaders in your life?
