I’ve only been messing around with my new hobby, photography, for a couple of weeks now but I already love it. Here a few reasons why I think photography is a good fit for me at this stage of my life…
1. I’m Not Too Good at It! It’s fun to do something that I don’t have to be great at, if you know that I mean. It doesn’t matter. I can just try stuff and not worry about it.
2. It Satisfies My Inner Gadget Goon: I love tinkering with gadgets and gizmos and playing around with my Nikon D40 does the trick. Plus I get to use my photoshop skills on my own photos instead of design projects for other things.
3. It Gets Me Out of the Box: I sit behind a desk and/or in office spaces a lot so it’s really great to get outside and take photos. I don’t usually have too much of a desire to get out but this drives me a bit.
4. I Get to Capture Moments: It seems that so much of life flies by so quick that I really like the sense that I’m capturing moments. I feel like each photo is a slice of time. More importantly, get to record how awesome and great my family is.
5. It Keeps My Mind Off of Church: I think about church all the time. I mean ALL the time. I can’t turn it off. Photography puts all those church thoughts in neutral for a while and allows my little brain to rest a bit. That’s a huge plus and the ultimate reason to have a hobby. I truly find photography re-creational in that regard.
Truthfully, I’m not sure how long I’m going to enjoy photography. I have a tendency to hop from one thing to the next but, for now, it’s great fun.
