Amy and I took the kids downtown yesterday on a little outing. First, We hit the Varsity (Oh yeah! Love the rings!) and then we headed over to the World of Coca-Cola. We had a blast!
I visited the old World of Coke back when it was in Underground Atlanta and it was okay. This was my first visit to the new World of Coke and I thought it was excellent.
It starts off with the Coke Loft which has all sorts of memorabilia in it. It also houses a $2 million Norman Rockwell painting. (I tried to lift it but security is too tight.) We then entered a theater for a short film called “Inside the Happiness Factory” which was really well done. After that, there was a self-guided tour through the rest of the building.
There’s all sorts of stuff to look at. They have a working bottling line that produces 8 oz souvenir bottles that you can take home at the end of your visit. There’s a “4D” theater where you get to see a 3D movie with moving seats. This movie is reminiscent of the sort of things you experience at Disney World. (It’s so much better than the LAME on at Stone Mountain Park.) There’s a museum section that I found very interesting as well as room where you can view coke commercials from about the world.
The highlight of the trip, however, is the tasting room. In this room, you can taste different sodas from around the world. There are a lot of nasty ones like the Beverly which my wife describes as “hair spray.” There are also some good ones. (Check out the Sparberry soda from South Africa.)
It’s not cheap but we’ve paid more and had less fun at other things like it. Check it out.
So glad your family had a good time. Times to treasure! I hope all went well for YOU today. Thank you for the beautiful and tasty arrangement. I cherish your prayers and friendship.
