Todoist Experiment

I’ve been a big fan and a long-time user of PlanPlus for Outlook.  It’s been a great product for me and I feel that it’s really helped boost my productivity over the years and, yet, sadly I seem to have it a wall with it recently.  The latest release, version 6, really didn’t do anything for me so I’ve decided to look for another task management system.

After looking at just about everything I could get my hands on, I’ve decided that Todoist is the closest match to what I need.  (Toodledo and VitaList are both very strong contenders too, however.)  Todoist, while minimalist in approach, just seems to be a better fit for me because of the quick task entry via keyboard shortcuts as well as the firefox sidebar.  The mobile version is very limited and needs some work but it does allow me to access my tasks on the go and the full site works well in the iPhone safari browser if I need it.  The subtasks and subprojects features are a must for me and the tagging system is good too.

Of course, the true test of something like this is whether or not you can be productive with it on a day to day basis so I’ve decide a couple of days ago to move all my existing tasks into Todoist and give it a whirl.  I’ll report back in a week or so about my little todoist experiment.

  1. The word “Todoist” sounds like a cross between “Toodledo” and “VitaList.” Just an observation I couldn’t keep to myself.
