The Best is Yet to Come

This might come across as a little odd but I’m sitting here praying and everything in me wants to reach out and encourage all of you that read this blog.  I wish I could sit down with each of you and tell you what I’m feeling right now.  Truthfully, 2008 was a hard year on a lot of us…myself included.  However, as I pray, I strongly sense one phrase over and over and over from the Lord.  Can you guess what it is?  Yep.  The best is yet to come.

As many of you know, I’m a recovering pessimist and thoughts like this don’t come to me naturally.  ;)  Honestly, God has been pounding this into my spirit for over a month now.  He just keeps repeating it.  He keeps telling me to listen to it and ponder what it means.  He’s also now pushing me to get this word out to others.  Folks, if you follow Jesus, I want you to know the best is yet to come.  If you’ve been sowing in tears, you’ll soon be reaping in joy.  (I just can’t seem to find the words to stress this enough.)  Hold on.  The best is yet to come.  You’re best years aren’t behind you.  They’re ahead of you.  God hasn’t forgotten you.  He couldn’t if He tried.  Hang tight.  Cling to Him with everything you’ve got because joy comes in the morning…and morning is on it’s way.

Be strong and courageous, my friends, because our Lord is the God of all things.  He’s the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  His name is above every name and He is in control.  Be encouraged today.  Know that He is with you and your “turn” is coming.

Please let me know if any of this resonates with you.

  1. Yes yes yes! I have been having almost an identical experience!

For me it’s been that “other” voice” in my head saying “you’re too old”, “too tired”, “too set in your ways”, “too challenged”, “too too!”…….And I just keep having the Holy Spirit step in and say, “No. The best is yet to come.” The other big thing He has been saying to me lately….especially during the entire service last Sunday was, “Let me have my way with you!”…”Surrender, Surrender”, “I will take care of all the little things that occupy your mind with worry….just listen to me and do as I say. I will take care of the rest.”

I have such a feeling of anticipation…good anticipation. I have no idea what is instore, but I feel God moving and promising that the best is yet to come!

For me the trick is not putting the “feeling” on any type of timetable (hense, getting dissappointed when things don’t happen quickly enough) and just really trying to live moment by moment in His presence and move when I hear Him say “move”. I think if I could obey Him in that way, everything else would take care of itself! Gods will be done!!

  3. Kelly!! I can’t believe I missed your comment earlier. i just discovered it today. Great stuff. I’m glad God is speaking to you. Kelly, let Him lead your life in both the big and small things. You won’t regret it.

    I’m proud of you, Kelly!

  4. Dave, I’m glad you’re digging it. I’ve been trying to write more stuff of “substance” lately.

  5. Hope is creeping up…finding purpose in the pain. God has been showing me that even the “drying out” process is still part of the process. Must happen to make a strong vessel. SUCH a timely post, Tony.
