Roundtable

roundtableOver the years, I’ve had the wonderful privilege of being in many different coaching networks.  These coaching meetings usually consisted of one “star” pastor coaching the rest of of us “normal” pastors.   He would normally come in and share his experiences and wisdom with us.  Everyone around the table would also share and discuss what was working for them and what they were going through.  I always left the coaching sessions filled with new ideas, fresh hope, and inspiration.  I was always struck, however, with the fact that about 50% of what I took away from the meeting came from the other “normal” guys and not the coach! The truth is that something very powerful happens when like-minded pastors get together and share with one another.   God just seems to bless that sort of fellowship and everyone that attends is stronger because of it.

With that in mind, I’d like to offer to host a one-day pastor’s roundtable.   I think we’d follow a similar format to what my good friend, Tadd Grandstaff, is doing in NC.  I’d ask each person to submit one or two questions they’d like to cover and I’d sort of moderate the thing.  The idea would be for everyone to just share what they’ve learned and what has worked for them.  No superstars.  Just normal pastors helping each other.

The big question is, of course, whether or not anybody would come if I put this thing out there.  So, if I offered to host the event at my offices in Buford, Georgia, and if I offered to buy lunch, would you come?  Would you schedule a day of you time and, more importantly, would you come ready to share with others?  If so, please post a comment here and let me know that you’re interested.  If there’s interest, I’ll do whatever I need to do to make it happen.  (BTW, right now, I’m thinking a Thursday in early June.)

Who knows?  This could be the start of something very powerful.

FINE PRINT:  This is for pastors/church planters only.  You need to be in the ministry right now or at least getting ready to launch a church.  If that’s you and you’re ready spend some time with some like-minded folks, let me know.  Also, please help me spread the word about this to other pastors/planters out there that you think might be interested.

  1. Mark, it looks like we might not need a round table. We might just need a card table. :)

  3. tony,
just came across this post & I’ve been thinking about the same thing. I would participate and think i could some other guys on board as well.

    • Brian, I still think about doing this all the time. Perhaps when we’ve settled into our building I’ll suggest it again.
