As I mention in an earlier blog post, I was truly honored a few weeks ago to be asked by Revolution Church to come and speak during their One Prayer series. When my good friend, Gary Lamb, instructed the staff to contact me and set a date, I immediately knew that I was supposed to do it and I agreed. It just felt like a divine appointment and that God wanted me to accept the invitation to speak even though the timing wasn’t the greatest for me personally. Little did I know what was about to happen at Revolution.
When I got the news about everything that has transpired over the last several days, I thought the staff of Revolution and/or the board of oversees might want to have someone else come in and speak to the church. I offered to do whatever they wanted but I was told that they all still felt really good about me coming in to speak. At this point, I’m not only honored but I’m also truly humbled by their confidence in me to come the Sunday after the tragic announcement of last weekend.
Obviously, it’s a bit of a challenge to know what exactly to say to Revolution. My One Prayer topic is out the window, of course, and I find myself in the place, once again, of really just needing a word from the Lord for these amazing folks. In fact, the only reason I’m blogging about all this is just to ask you to pray for me as I seek the Lord about what He’d have me share with them.
I will say that I know that the Lord has appointed me to do this. I feel it in my bones. I felt it when I was first asked and I felt all the more when it was confirmed that I was still on the schedule. I also know that I will have a word from the Lord for Revolution when step on that stage this Sunday.
It goes without saying that I have all sorts of ideas rumbling around in my head about what to share with the church. My heart has been grieving for Revolution from the moment I heard the news and there’s a lot I’d love to say to them. What’s really important though, and what Revolution needs more than anything else, is just a flat out Word from God. Therefore, I’d like to ask those of you that read my blog to please pray for wisdom and guidance for me about all this. Also pray that the Lord gives me His exact words to share. Pray that the Lord uses me to encourage the folks of this amazing church and that what I bring this Sunday will be used by Him to help take Revolution to the next stage of their healing process.
For those of you that go to Fusion, I don’t want you to worry. We’ve got your covered too. We have the one and only Charlie Pharis coming out to finish up our AKA God series. God always uses Charlie to speak to our church in powerful ways and I sense that his visit with us is a divine appointment too! AND, Seth will be back as well! It’s going to be a powerhouse service to be sure.
Tony,
God wants you to be there, too. I’ve been praying for The Lamb family, Gary, Revolution, and all of us that serve the Lord in any capacity.
Psalm 46 is a good start. We are supposed to count it pure joy when the world crashes around us, because it amplifies our need for God. We are to praise Him at all times, both great, and tough times that our brothers and sisters at Revolution are experiencing.
Encourage them. Remind them that God has been, is, and forever will be in control.
I am praying that God will provide you the words from His Word, that will start the healing process for all.
God bless you!
