Signal to Noise Ratio

I’ve been realizing lately that the signal to noise ratio in my life is getting out of hand.  What I mean is that while there is a ton of great content available to me via the web, blogs, facebook, twitter and the like, there’s also way too much static coming at me.  It’s getting harder and harder to hear the signal that’s buried in the noise.  (Facebook is the poster child for this, by they way.  It has a rapidly growing amount of noise with an equally rapidly diminishing amount of signal.)

With that in mind, I’ve decided to clean up my own corner of the web.  You’ll notice that my new blog design is as clean as I know how to make it.  I’ve stripped away all the bells and whistles (and other noise generators) and just left pure content here.  Beyond that, I’ve decided to move all my “noisier” posts to the asides section of my blog.  There you’ll find all the silly videos, goofy stuff, random ideas and other trivial things from my life.  Those items wont show up in the main blog area and they won’t show up in my blog’s RSS feed either.  (The asides category actually has it’s own feed if you’re interested in following that info.)

My hope is to focus my blog more on things like prayer, Bible study, leadership, church planting, and pastoring.  I also hope that my blog will be more signal and less noise to those that read it.  My honest prayer is that it will bless and encourage all you guys.
