Thanksgiving is a strange holiday. It seems to have lost almost all of it’s original meaning. I think that’s why it can be so stressful. Sadly, it’s become more about fine foods and family gatherings than anything else.
Here’s a trick for you. Today, at some point, push through all the clutter and determine that you’re going to focus on God. Make some time and look past the pies, the turkey, the travel, the clothes for the kids, and the relatives and actually talk to God. Stop, if only for a minute, and literally thank Him for all He has done for you. This simple act will transform your holiday and give it a special significance.
For those of you that are alone (or feel alone even in the midst of the activities), I want you to know that I’m praying for you this morning. I also hope that you can look past the feelings of loneliness and realize that Jesus is right there with you and that He knows and cares about the real you. Give Him thanks. You’ll be glad you did.
May you all have a happy and blessed day of Thanksgiving!
