playdohI wish I could say that I was some sort of creative artist type when I was a kid but, sadly, I wasn’t.  I’m afraid that when it came to play-doh and the like I ended up making a lot of snakes, pipes and sticks, if you know what I mean.

I’m thankful that God is a lot more creative and artistic than that.  He always knows what He’s doing and He always has an intricate plan before He starts anything.  This is important to remember when He starts to shape and mold you (and your life) in ways that don’t make sense to you at the time.  It’s during those counter-intuitive times that we’ve got to trust Him, His plan, His goodness and His unparalleled artistry.

The truth is that during those seasons it’s easy to start telling God where He’s going wrong and what He failed to do but we must keep in mind that, while we can make little more than play-doh snakes with our lives by ourselves, He only makes masterpieces.  Check out this verse.

You are confused. You think the clay is equal to the potter. You think that an object can tell the one who made it, “You didn’t make me.” This is like a pot telling its maker, “You don’t know anything.” Isaiah 29:16 (NCV)

His hands were pierced because of His great love for you.  Let Him take those very same hands and trust Him to shape your life in the best way possible.  Don’t fight Him.  Allow Him to make you what He designed you to be all along.  You won’t regret it.
