I’ve been a pastor for something like 20 years now and the longer I do it the more convinced I become that the number one job of every pastor is prayer.
By prayer, I mean the act of…
- Seeking the Lord in prayer and Bible study
- Listening for His responses to requests as well as guidance for the church.
- Lifting up the needs of those that attend the church under the pastor’s care.
A pastor that doesn’t do these things is impotent at best. He becomes nothing more than a manager of an organization instead of a shepherd of a flock.
Pastors, do whatever you must do to stir yourself to take hold of God in prayer.
Tony!
Great post. Right on too!
