Exiting the Echo Chamber

We live in highly polarized times. I suppose that some polarization is natural just due to the human condition, but in all my life I’ve never seen such venomous verbiage being spewed by so many people.

None of this is what God wants. We’re told in scripture to be slow to speak and quick to listen. (We’re also told to be slow to become angry.)

I implore everyone to stop being filled with hate and rage by listening to left-wing and right-wing voices that only exist to stir up contention so they might bolster their ratings and download numbers.

I hear so many people that literally just regurgitate what is being pumped out by both sides. You can even hear the bullet points in what they say.

Please, please stop and ponder. Stop and think for yourself. Listen to other reasoned viewpoints. Consider things from other angles. Refuse to just parrot back what others are saying. Don’t be a mimic. Be a thinker. And above all else, ask God to help you process all you hear.

Remember, life is not some sort of shouting match.
