I heard this on the radio some months ago. This interview

mentions that he “agreed to fill in as a sports anchor on a student-run TV newscast.” My understanding at the time I heard it was that he was essentially walking by the studio right before showtime, and they asked him to fill in. Seeing the video makes me think he might have had some prep time, as he’s all dressed up. But hey, maybe that’s why they asked him instead of someone else.
